Possible Career?

Reoccurring problems seem to be forefront in my mind these days. The problems being the economy, my location, and having too many things that "I could do...".

One thing that I've always been good at is interior decorating.

I designed my own room when I was 15 years old. The color pallet was a cornflower blue with hints of green. I painted the back wall the cornflower blue and the other three walls white. I anchored my bed to the blue wall and bought a blue and green loose plaid comforter. I had a display shelf border at the top where I put keepsakes and picture frames. I picked out wood floor to replace the mauve carpet. Designed a picture collage and mounted a glass plate on the tops of the dresser and night table. I even got a funky inflatable couch for extra seating.

As I got older I decorated every space I have occupied. People have always complimented the way I decorate and asked me to come help with their homes or rooms. A couple of years ago I got into remodeling junky discarded furniture and actually sold it. I love making a living space beautiful! I collect decorating magazines and cut out the things I like hoping that I will one day be able to refer to it while building and designing my own home.

My question is, should I go back to school and be an interior designer or try to make it on my own as an interior decorator?

Many theories have been mentioned on the subject of me not having a "career".

  1. Maybe God wants you to master domestic skills before giving you a career.
  2. You haven't prayed enough.
  3. You haven't taken the "bull by the horns" and made a place for yourself in the world.
  4. You are too hyper to have a normal job.
Honestly I don't know if this would be a path for me. Nothing feels right when I think of job opportunities- I can list too many reasons why not to do it. Hopefully, I'm doing the right thing by doing nothing at the moment. Working for my Dad has been somewhat depressing because it's so tedious.

I think I'll keep praying on it.
